"First Daughter(s)" was an innovative new title originated by Human Code. It was
aimed at the adolecent girls market and so focused heavily on charater an plot;
though still retained a large amount of action and adventure. The game was a cross
platform PC/PSX title and I was put in charge of the small PC programming team for development. Our work was done using MS Visual C++.
Since this project only ran for a few months, most of my work consisted of design
documentation and arhcitecture framework development in conjunction with the PSX
team. We developed a very robust world editing system for laying out screens with
objects, scripts, and triggers. Keeping functionality identical, without the
support of a cross platform engine, would have been very difficult without this plaform independent
world specification system.
Late in '99, Hasbro went through some financial difficulties that resulted in them
laying off several hundred people and closing down their children's video game
endeavors. First Daughters was one of many titles to be canceled during this time.
